Currently Watching
The Bourne Supremacy (Widescreen Edition)
By Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Brian Cox, Julia Stiles, Karl Urban
see related

All I really need to know I learned from Jason Bourne

1. When it comes to past relationships that have ended, no need to hang on to lingering memories. (Burn her pictures.)

2. Learn how to speak a foreign language. And speak it well -- especially if you're planning to evade the local law enforcement in a particular country.

3. That self-aid buddy care class ... take it seriously! You never know when a KGB agent (or its modern day derivative) may shoot you in the shoulder and you may need to use vodka and a map to tidy yourself up.

4. Learn how to drive a stick shift. For evading the KGB agent (see above).

5. If you wrong someone, it's nice to make it right by fessing up to it. (Like when you killed someone's parents because you're a secret agent on assignment)

My Cousin Belle, Writer, Artist

Check out my cousin's new Red Room Writer's Blog: http://www.redroom.com/author/belle-yang

Belle Yang

Here is the cover of her first book, which was helped when Amy Tan helped the world "discover" Belle's talents for word and art.

Of Primaries, Annoying, no not that one

So ... the primaries are heating up ... with the two candidates flinging mud at each other and dragging out an ugly scene for the same party.

No I'm not talking about Obama vs. Hillary in the Democratic Presidential Primaries. I'm talking about the Republican Primaries for California's 4th Congressional District pitting Tom McClintock against Doug Ose. I have gotten campaign literature from these two gentlemen almost every day. Today alone I received 5 pieces in the mail -- 2 pro-McClintock and 3 pro-Ose.

So first of all I question these guys commitment to protect the environment and our natural resources.

But what's horrible is ... these multiple mailings from all manners of people tell me absolutely nothing about these candidates. They are literally just calling each other names and traitors and I can't make heads or tails about what either of them stand for. McClintock started the mailings early calling Ose a liberal while McClintock is a true conservative. Not too long after Ose sends a whole bunch of mailings claiming the reserve.

And neither of them seem to be able to present themselves in a civil and reasonable light. They have to rely on comparisons with the other person and say how horrible the other guy is.

* Sigh * At this rate I may vote Democratic just on principle.

It's May ... and the Tampa Bay Rays are in First Place in the AL East ...

Surely the world has gone crazy! Actually I'm really happy for the "little guys" ... I rooted for the Rays and went to quite a few games while I was down in Tampa ... it was always hard to watch how there were as many fans cheering for their opponents as for them. I just wanted them to WIN! To succeed! And now, at least so far this season, they're seeing it!

Go Rays! (With apologies to Peij ...)
